Air Traffic Management

A distinguishing feature of Human Solutions is our in-house staff of ATC subject matter experts (SMEs), a top-notch staff of former full performance level controllers. They provide deep-bench expertise from a field perspective, gained through direct experience on the control room floors of the FAA' s largest, busiest, and most complex operating facilities. Most were members of the National User Team's working with FAA Headquarters staff, field managers, controllers, and NATCA representatives on the test and deployment of new ATC technologies for the EnRoute and Terminal environments. Our staff combines superior technical expertise with extensive operating experience to provide products uniquely suited to developing the tools and technology solutions for enhanced air traffic management. Our SMEs participate in operational test and evaluation, on-site deployment and implementation, mission and concept analysis, and site adaptation.

Engineering Services

HSI specializes in performing research and development and systems engineering initiatives that transform the national airspace system (NAS). HSI's broad base of success transitioning programs from concept to operational implementation includes participation in capacity enhancing initiatives like ERAM, Wake RECAT, WTMD, PBN, TPA, ATPA, TSS, RNP, TMA, TBFM, and DataComm. HSI has aided the FAA and NASA in identifying and overcoming technical challenges and procedural difficulties related to introducing new capabilities into the NAS, particularly those that span domains and require integration with automation systems and procedures.

HSI helps the FAA increase productivity and enhance performance of mission-critical software and technologies by integrating human factors engineering into the design and development processes. Along with engineering support, clients are supported by a full suite of HSI capabilities, including strategic messaging, technical writing and editing, and process development, and deployment planning and management.

HSI plays a vital role in transitioning complex and innovative engineering technology from the laboratory to the control room. Our experience base, gained from years of hands-on engineering support, provides insightful understanding of full life cycle systems engineering, operational engineering, software support, and human factors engineering, particularly for NAS, EnRoute, Oceanic, SysOps, and TechOps technologies.
